Weekend Recap

Jerem had his coaching debut this past weekend due to 2 of the coaches having heart problems. One had a massive heart attack and was in the hospital recovering. He is 40 and has 2 sons that play on the team. His kids still made it to the games, I can only imagine the emotions they were going through, but they played their hearts out. As you all know Dallas was the other one. Glad he's doing better, but we had a sad boy here when he heard Uncle Dallas wouldn't be back to coach the rest of the year.

I love this picture. I'm not sure what was being said but it was effective.
For those of you wondering how much Anson made off Grandpa I believe he walked away with $20 after Saturdays 2 games. He had 2 goals and he says 4 assists, but he didn't make Grandpa pay for ALL his assists. He got another goal Sunday and that was it for the game. The first game of the weekend he scored within the first 30 seconds and I think Grandpa started sweating a little. :)

Going after it!!

After a long day of hockey the kids enjoyed a few hours in the pool. I had asked them all to make a silly face. Apparently in the Haack house this means opening ones mouth.

Chloe in one of her many poses.

Winding down for the night.

She finally gave in and zonked out during a game and slept for a good 90 minutes dispite all the screaming around her. Hockey sisters learn to adapt.

Grandpa and Grandma did a great job keeping the kids supplied with plenty of sugary substances. Paige and Chloe sold 10 of the shakers and with every dollar they made they would run and spend it immediatly on the concession stand rather than let it build and get something that cost a little more. They were playing in the "warm" area during the games and I came out and saw that they had taken over a card table that was set up already and set their cans out for people to see and buy. They were really getting in to it.

I know a lot of people complain about all the travel with hockey but I sure enjoyed this weekend. It was a nice break away from here and some great family time and memories!

WE'VE GOT SPIRIT

YES WE DO! WE'VE GOT SPIRIT HOW ABOUT YOU!!

Fellow hockey mom Kara Stromlund and I decided that we needed something more than our voices at the games. So this week we made 21 shakers out of tin cans with beans, rice, and pasta inside. We're going to let Paige and Sawyer sell them to the other parents at this weekend's jamboree for concession stand money. You'd totally pay a 1.00 for one of these annoying things wouldn't you?

"GOOOOO ANSON!!!" Paige had to demonstrate how to use them.

White hair Grandpa and Grandma are coming to TRF for the jamboree and we are staying at a hotel with a pool and everything so we have some VERY excited kids around here! Anson has been promised $5 for every goal he makes, he's been figuring out the different amounts he could make depending on how many goals he gets all week. I think his hopes are a little high..but we'll see. :) Paige gets to bring Chloe along so she has a friend to hang out with. Look for pictures next week.

Christmas Gift Post

I've been meaning to post a picture of the basket my mom made me for Christmas. She started taking a basket making class and this was her first ever basket. Isn't it AWESOME? I just love it! I would love it if it weren't something she made, but knowing she wove it just for me makes it so much more meaningful.

It sits just perfect on the counter collecting school papers and odds and ends throughout the week and gets emptied on the weekend. Thanks mom. I LOVE IT!!

Meet "My Kids"

Not sure if this whole "blogging every day" thing is going to work. Since I last posted 3 of us came down with the stomach flu, then a new week started and it just seems like the days are flying by. I thought you might all enjoy meeting the kids I have coming here every day. I wanted to wait until I had permission from the parents to do this so it's been a few days in the making.

Meet Levi 16 months
This cutie has been here since last spring and LOVES his cuddle time! He's been gone for the last month on vacation and I've missed him running up and crawling on my lap to snuggle in. He seems to have missed me too which makes me happy! He loves interacting with the other kids and making sure the babies have their toys within reach.

Meet Gage 6 months
He's the first one I've had since the baby baby stage of 2 months. It's been so fun to watch him develop and grow over the last few months. From hearing him giggle to seeing him work so hard to roll over and finally figure it out. He is such an easy baby and so content to just hang out and play while I work around him. You can definatly tell he's the youngest of 4 by his easy going nature.

Meet Kodiak 2 1/2 years
This one here is my boy! He was the one that got the ball rolling with me getting licensed for day care. He's been here for a year and a half now and really knows the routine. Him and Paige are awesome buddies and he is always giving me hugs and telling me "wuv you". He is Gage's older brother and very protective of him and so gentle with him.

Meet Anika. 8 months
Anika is the youngest of my second set of siblings. Talk about one HAPPY BABY!!! She's just figuring out how to scoot around and get to what she wants. Her and her sister have only been here for a month but they are a perfect fit for us and we are so happy to have them.

Meet Ali. 2 3/4 years (and Ava-2 1/2)
Do not mistake Ali's petite size for being shy and unsure. She is IN CHARGE when the kids head downstairs to play. No one seems to mind and are all quite happy to either do what she says..or just ignore her. She is quite the talker and loves following me around asking me what I'm doing and why, and how, and what I'm doing, and why, and..oh wait..did I say that? Yes, like a typical 2 year old most questions get repeated.
Ava does so good with these extra kids here. Her and Ali love playing with their babies and carseats, or dress up. They also like sneaking past me into the girls room and stripping the beds to jump on. Sometimes I just have to let them. :) Sounds like I am needed downstairs. Now you know what keeps me busy every day!

Here is Love

I was reminded of this song yesterday and just had to post the lyrics. Bear sang it at our wedding and it will always be a favorite of mine. I can still hear his rich voice booming out the words.

Here is love vast as the ocean
Loving kindness as the flood
When the Prince of life, our ransom
Shed for us His precious blood
Who His love will not remember?
Who can cease to sing His praise?
He can never be forgotten
Throughout Heaven’s eternal days

On the Mount of Crucifixion
Fountains opened deep and wide
Through the floodgates of God’s mercy
Flowed a vast and gracious tide
Grace and love, like mighty rivers
Poured incessant from above
And Heaven’s peace and perfect justice
Kissed a guilty world in love

Let us all His love accepting
Love Him ever all our days
Let us seek His Kingdom only
And our lives be to His praise
He alone shall be our glory
Nothing in the world we see
He has cleansed and sanctified us
He Himself has set us free

In His truth He does direct me
By His Spirit through His Word
And His grace my need is meeting
As I trust in Him, my Lord
All His fullness He is pouring
In His love and power in me
Without measure
Full and boundless
As I yield myself to Thee

Sisters

"umm...no blog post since monday?!?!?!" (to quote my sister-in-law) Okay Kim, dedicating this one to you!

Yesterday I was have a very crabby day. No particular reason, just one of those days where I was not happy. Kim and I stay logged in to chat all day (her from her work computer..shhhhhh) and periodically I'll sit down at the computer and chat throughout the day. Okay, periodically is an understatement. We probably spend WAY too much time talking via chat. I'm pretty sure my brother thinks we do. :) Since I just have this desktop to operate from our chat time HAS diminished. Some.  Anyhoo...so I'm venting to her yesterday about being crabby for no apparent reason, and she determined I needed a little retail therapy. Now, when you've cyber shopped with someone for as long as we have, you have it down! The kids and Jerem WERE in need of a little wardrobe update. So I tackled Paige, she got Anson and away we went. Sending links back and forth until I found what I wanted. Then we had to look for coupon codes, and of course make sure I was getting my 10% cash back from shop at home. I was exhausted by the time I was done. :) Okay, not really. (Just a disclaimer for you day care parents that might be reading this. I WAS watching  your children while this was going on. :) )

Later that afternoon I was commenting on how I had no idea what to blog about for the day because I was having a hard time coming out of my funk and finding something to be happy about.  She jokingly said I should blog about our daily chats. Bingo! We practically single handedly (is that a word?)  planned their entire wedding via chat. WITHOUT Pinterest too! We're always motivating each other to go workout, or finding recipes that will ruin our working out. We've schemed about how to see each other more often, and pulled each other into the trap of online shopping when we shouldn't. :)  She truly is a bright spot in my day. I am so thankful I have another sister that I am so close to. I sure do wish we lived closer, (as in them moving closer THIS way, I love it up here too much to move THAT way). I am glad we have the conveniences of modern technology to bring us together the way that it has. Even if it DOES keep me from getting some work done. :)

I just don't feel right ending this post without talking about another sister. My older sister. We have become so close in the last few years and I am so thankful for that. I have a hard time chatting with her, via computer anyway. Probably because we are so used to hearing each others voices. We tried cutting back on minutes and going to computer contact. That lasted for about a week. She calls at least every other day, sometimes daily. And we talk..well..until my phone dies. The difference viral chatting vs telephone chatting is when I'm on the phone I CAN'T SIT STILL. So I'm constantly moving around and working while we're talking. I like to tease her that she calls at the perfect times, usually just when I'm feeling guilty for not getting some work done.  I can't imagine a week going by without hearing her voice. Sorry Tash, I know I just made you cry. :)

Thank you Lord for a couple of wonderful sisters that brighten up each and every day of mine.

To have a loving relationship with a sister is not simply to have a buddy or confident - it is to have a soul mate for life.
